When SparkPost acquired eDataSource a year and a half ago, the newly combined leadership team set out a compelling vision that turned into an internal mantra of sorts: we aren’t just as good as we were separately, we are in fact #BetterTogether.
Our teams rallied around this vision and worked to enact this principle from our customer success team to our sales organization to our engineering department.
But what does #BetterTogether really mean from the product perspective?
It means building something that you can only get when you have both sending and deliverability analytics in the same platform. It means a unified user experience. It’s not sticking deliverability analytics into a sending platform, or vice versa, and calling it a day – it’s using deliverability analytics to improve sending and sending to improve deliverability.
With this vision in mind, we’ve spent the past year and a half interviewing hundreds of users, industry experts, and other stakeholders. We’ve designed, tested, re-designed and re-tested, and developed – all while continuing to improve our existing, proven products.
Introducing: SparkPost Deliverability Analytics
I’m delighted to be able to introduce you to the newest tool in the SparkPost suite – SparkPost Deliverability Analytics. This powerful tool gives teams easy access to the data they need to take action and drive more ROI in the inbox. You can see the announcement here.
I want to highlight two groundbreaking ways we’ve really been able to implement the #BetterTogether vision and give you a product that is greater than the sum of its parts:
- Automatic Inline Seeding: Seeding is the traditional method for getting deliverability data. It’s reliable – but also tedious and time consuming. We consistently heard in user interviews that people “just wanted us to do it for them.” Automatic Inline Seeding takes the pain out of seeding and leaves teams with all the benefits. (Look for another blog post soon with more details about how we built this!)
- Blocklist Impact: Another pain point we heard repeatedly was that existing blocklist monitoring tools provided little information beyond “you’ve been blocklisted.” All blocklists are not created equal – how are you supposed to know if a given blocklisting is a wake-me-up-in-the-middle-of-the-night incident or a it-can-wait-until-the-morning event? That’s why our data science team built an algorithm to help teams understand the impact of a blocklisting on their specific mailstream – all using SparkPost’s huge data footprint, courtesy of sending 40% of the world’s commercial email.
Onward With Email Innovation
Deliverability Analytics is just one way that SparkPost is continuing to advance the email deliverability space. Inbox Tracker fans may know that we recently launched our Salesforce Journey Builder integration. And with our recent acquisition of Taxi for Email, we have even more tools in our belt to drive innovation forward for enterprise email professionals facing really complex challenges. We’re excited to make life a little better for our beloved email geeks. I can’t wait to see what the next year brings, and I’m delighted to have you along for the ride. 🙂
